Ishi-Hana

Ishi-Hana

A living sculpture of balancing stones.

In search of equilibrium,
carried by gravity.
Balance arises through concentration and attention,
in an ongoing negotiation between form, weight, and movement.

At the heart of stone, an eye opens—
whoever looks is seen.
The sculpture shifts from object to presence:
a silent encounter between human and matter.

Ishi-Hana is a poetic and meditative performance.

This work is inspired by the Japanese Buddhist Zen art of balancing stones into a sculpture.
The act is performed exclusively by Krist Doo. The act of balance between stillness and movement is musically supported by the sounds of the shakuhachi, a traditional Japanese bamboo flute.
The music is provided by Robin Tamura, master of transformative arts and shakuhachi player within the Buddhist tradition, based in Berlin.

The performance has no technical requirements other than a flat surface (1 × 1 m) on which the base can be leveled.
A Bluetooth speaker is used during the performance.
A few minutes of assistance are needed during costume setup; this can be provided by a volunteer from the client, or at an additional cost we can bring our own assistant.

Price for an Ishi-Hana performance:

2 × 90 minutes within a 4-hour time block: €650

excluding 9% VAT / excluding travel costs €0.45 per km from Oss (The Netherlands), round trip.
